Places to Visit in Mindoro

Tourist Spots in Mindoro
Mindoro Island is divided into two provinces, Oriental and Occidental. Its main products are mostly agricultural but they also have beautiful and stunning tourist destinations that they can be proud of. From the historical sites to the beautiful white beaches, underwater richness, rain-forest from the mountains, and the people. I have tried solo-backpacking to Mindoro several times and I can say that the people here are one of the hospitable and friendly in the country.

White Beach is an area near the crowded center of Puerto Galera; one of the island hoping destinations. If you just want to relax on a beach with fine white sand and cool crystal clear water, you can find it here. The area has a gorgeous landscape because of the trees by the beach. The serenity of this island is still maintained so you can have a relaxing day tour.

Puerto Galera
Puerto Galera is the top tourist spots in Oriental Mindoro because of its white beaches, island hoping and underwater activities. This summer destination is already commercialized, like Boracay Island, so expect for a modern design and world class resorts and hotels. Most of the restaurants serve  appetizing and mouth watering delicacies. During night time, this area transforms into a party haven, with fire dancers performing by the beach. Souvenir shops by the beach are also available. More underwater shoot from Puerto Galera, Click Here >>>

Giant Clam
I included this Giant Clam in this post because I was astounded by these; most of the time  I am only seeing them on TV. These giant clams came from North Luzon and were transferred in Mindoro to cultivate and propagate them.

Our Puerto Galera escapade was remarkable because of the first times that I tried, like eating raw edible sea urchin. For some reasons, their are times that I got an allergic reaction to anything that I eat but not with this thing-y. Since its raw, it is also fresh with the taste similar to sea water and with a distinct after taste. The texture is really slimy and its taste just spreading in my mouth -  a must try!

Mt. Halcon
Mt. Halcon  is one of the gems of Mindoro and considered as one of the most difficult mountains to hike in the Philippines. This giant separates Oriental to Occidental and has a wide rain-forest areas being protected by the Mangyan tribe members. It has a very long trail and most part of these are ascending up to the summit. I've visited a lot of river systems in the Philippines but Dulangan river is one of the finest, because of its super clear and cool water. Check our photos during our hike on Mt. Tourist Destinations in Mindoro
Mindoro has a wide agricultural areas, such as rice fields, variety of vegetables and fruit bearing trees like mangoes, rambotan, lanzones, and many more. Few years ago, I visited a place in Roxas and found all the vegetables in Bahay Kubo song.
