Maytime Festival is the Pride of Antipolo City

Maytime Festival

Tayo na sa Antipolo's Maytime Festival promotes the city of Antipolo as one of the pilgrimage sites in the Philippines, celebrated every first Tuesday of May and ends on the first Tuesday of July. These colorful festivities include Unang Prusisyon, Santacruzan, and Katapusang Prusisyon, together with the beautiful street dancing competitions. Antipolo's native delicacies like suman, manga, and kasoy are always part of the event to showcase the wealth of their city. The art and colors signify their colorful culture. I don't have my DSLR with me, so the photos above were captured using a not-so-expensive action camera. This Maytime Festival performance was part of the Aliwan Fiesta 2017 held at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila. During the awarding ceremony, they got the Fourth Place for the Dance Parade competition and the Best in Festival Costume for Reyna ng Aliwan.

How to Get to Antipolo City

Antipolo City is located east of Metro Manila and is easily accessible by public and private transportation.

  • By Jeepney or FX: From Cubao or Ortigas, ride a jeepney or UV Express bound for Antipolo City. Travel time is around 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • By Bus: Take a bus from major terminals in Manila or Quezon City with routes passing through Antipolo. Check signboards for “Antipolo” or “Cogeo.”
  • By Private Car: Drive via Marcos Highway, Ortigas Avenue Extension, or Sumulong Highway. Waze or Google Maps can guide you to your specific destination.

Most public vehicles will stop at Antipolo Cathedral or nearby landmarks, making it convenient for tourists and pilgrims.
