About Mt. Daguldol

Situated in San Juan, Batangas, Mt. Daguldol is a favorite hiking destination for its unique blend of mountain and sea. The trail offers a refreshing mix of coastal views, lush forests, gentle slopes, and rolling grasslands, making it a beginner-friendly climb that’s equally rewarding for seasoned hikers. Along the way, you’ll pass by friendly communities, small sari-sari stores, and even refreshing stopovers where locals sell halo-halo or buko juice, making the journey as delightful as the destination.

The terrain is clean, and the trails of Mt. Daguldol are well established because they are also used by the locals, not just by the people but also by horses, carabaos, and cows used for transporting crops to the lowlands. Having said that, expect a muddy and slippery trail during the wet season. There are hardwood and fruit-bearing trees, coconuts, bananas, and other plants surrounding the trails. There are assaults (some parts) and hopping on and off the boulders.

The summit of Mt. Daguldol is a wide, open area covered with green grass. The breeze is fresh, cool, and relaxing. Also, there's a wide view of the coastal areas of Batangas. Aside from being a campsite, it is also a place where the cows and horses are pastured. A lot of poops are scattered in the area, so it is advisable to bring and turn on your headlamps overnight.

After the super hot and tiring hike, it's time for us to enjoy the cold and refreshing waters. In Brgy. Hugom, there are a lot of beach resorts and hotels available, depending on your budget. There are resort operators who offer services like scuba diving and island hopping for a friendly price.

How to Get to Mt. Daguldol

We rode an Alps Bus in Cubao to the Alps Terminal in San Juan, Batangas. It took approximately three hours to reach the terminal. From there, we chartered a tricycle to Brgy. Hugom. The trip took one hour and ten minutes.

Whether you’re after panoramic views of Tayabas Bay, the cool mountain breeze, or simply the joy of a laid-back hike, Mt. Daguldol has something for everyone. Its scenic trails and welcoming community make it more than just a climb—it’s a complete outdoor experience that blends nature, culture, and adventure.
