About Malolos Cathedral
Malolos Cathedral, officially known as the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, is one of the most important religious and historical landmarks in Bulacan. Built during the Spanish colonial era, this grand church has witnessed centuries of faith and even played a significant role during the First Philippine Republic. Malolos Cathedral History
The first church and convent were built in 1591 and was established as parish in 1673. Entirely reconstructed from 1734 to 1744. Like most of the century-old churches in the country, Malolos Cathedral was severely damaged by earthquakes and fire. The last restorations were undertaken from 1859–1872 and in 1883. Then, the convent was used as the First Philippine Republic's presidential palace of General Emilio Aguinaldo on September 10, 1898.
On the left side of the church's facade is a centuries-old tree that serves as a living witness to many historic events that have transpired in this hallowed plaza. It was planted by President Aguinaldo during a lull in the historic Malolos Convention, when General Emilio Aguinaldo y Famy used this cathedral's convent as Palacio Presidencial from September 10, 1898, to March 29, 1899, conducting many affairs of state under the shade of this tree. Beside the bell tower of this historical structure is the tower of bells—bells that attract attention due to their design, numbers, and brilliant gold color.

In Cubao, ride a Baliwag Bus bound for Malolos and get off at the Crossing. From there, take a tricycle to the church.
