About Tappiya Falls
Located deep within the world-famous Batad Rice Terraces in Ifugao lies Tappiya Falls, a breathtaking natural wonder that rewards every hiker with its raw beauty and refreshing waters. The journey to reach it may be challenging — filled with stone steps, steep paths, and lush greenery — but the moment you catch sight of the powerful cascade plunging into a turquoise basin, all your effort instantly pays off. Tappiya Falls is not just a side trip; it’s a rewarding adventure that immerses you in the heart of Ifugao’s pristine landscape.
The Trails to Tappiya Falls
The first part is walking on the "pilapil" in the middle of the rice fields. Sorry, I just can't translate "pilapil" into English. Anyways, crossing the rice fields is physically tiring, but your inner self will be relaxed and stunned because the whole area is surrounded by greens, plus the wind is cool and fresh. Take note, you will be in the middle of the ancient and artistic Batad Rice terraces. The Cordillera region has an overflowing of natural attractions at its finest.
After an hour, we reached the steep concrete "countless" stairs. From afar, the sound of the rushing water flowing on the river can be heard. It was love at first sight! Like what I saw online, Tappiya Falls is truly a description of nature's beauty. The area is surrounded by mountains covered with trees and plants, making a more calming ambiance in the area. The river has cool and crystal clear water with boulders and towering limestone that add excellent shapes to the frames. The pressure of the water falling creates a wide pool on the ground with relaxing, cool waters.

How to Get to Tappiya Falls
If you are planning a DIY itinerary, my friend suggested taking the Ohayami Transit or G/V Florida Bus in Manila. Or, at the HM Transport Terminal in Cubao, you can take Coda Lines Corporation bound for Sagada, passing by Banaue. For schedules, you can direct your question to their Facebook pages. "Wag mahiyang magtanong." In Banaue, please register at the Banaue Tourism Office. Then, charter a tricycle to Batad Saddle Point. From there, a 20 to 30-minute trek to Batad Village and Batad Rice Terraces.
Final Thoughts
Tappiya Falls perfectly captures the essence of Batad — remote, peaceful, and awe-inspiring. Whether you’re cooling off after a trek through the rice terraces or simply seeking a quiet escape in nature, this waterfall reminds every traveler that the best views often come after the hardest climbs. Visiting Tappiya Falls is more than a destination; it’s an experience that connects you to the untouched spirit of the Cordillera highlands.
