About Mt. Samat

Mount Samat (≈560 m) is an extinct volcano in Pilar, Bataan, and is home to the iconic Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor). Built in 1970 to honor Filipino and American soldiers of the Battle of Bataan, it features a 95 m white cross with an observation deck, museum, and sweeping views of Manila Bay, Corregidor, and surrounding highlands.

Tarak Ridge (Mt. Mariveles)

This mountain has a good combination of breathtaking beauty, an elegant skyline, cool and temperate weather, and abundant flora and fauna, making it one of the hiker's top destinations in Bataan. By the way, it was my first major hike, and after five years, I am here again. Our journey is totally different because last time, it was the wet season, and this time, it was super dry.

Plus, they are very friendly and polite employees. Just so you know, we had no prior reservation, and we're already in Bataan when we started searching for beach resorts on Google Search and Google Maps. We visited several resorts in the Municipality of Morong, crossing our fingers to get an available villa for our overnight stay. Already passed 4 PM, but we hadn’t booked anything yet, so we proceeded to this last resort.

Morong Church, Bataan

Morong Church Bataan
Morong Church (Bataan), or Our Lady of the Pillar Parish Church, is more than 400 years old, established in 1607, and is one of the oldest churches in the province. Its structure was made from Coral stones, erected by the locals under the Spanish coloniser who ruled the province. Based on how this church looks, the rusty color and lichen hanging on the exterior are proof that this church is considered one of the heritage churches. However, I did not see any Heritage or Historical markers placed here.
