ANGELES CHURCH, Pampanga

Angeles Church Pampanga
We were heading back to Manila when we passed by the Angeles Church, Pampanga. It was evening and we thought that this church is stunningly beautiful. So, we parked and explored the area. According to history, the first chapel of Angeles Church was established in 1812, however, the current Renaissance-style structure was built through "polos y servicios" or forced and unpaid labor under the supervision of the Spanish government from 1877 to 1896. Dubbed as "Pisamban Maragul," kapampangan phrase for "big church" because it was the tallest church in Pampanga during that time.

BACOLOR CHURCH, Pampanga

Bacolor Church
Bacolor Church or the San Guillermo Church in Pampanga is considered as the Cagsawa of the North. More then twenty years ago, Mt. Pinatubo erupted and many municipalities were left devastated, including Bacolor, Pampanga. This church was built in 1576 and was named after Bacolor's patron saint San Guillermo Ermitaño. Destroyed by earthquakes and fire then was rebuilt in 1886.
 

CRYSTAL BEACH RESORT, Zambales

Crystal Beach Resort is situated in San Narciso, Zambales, a 3 to 4 hours land travel from Metro Manila. Crystal Beach has a long fine sand beach, good for camping. The water is cool and crystal clear perfect for the summer. Plus, the waves are big and strong, perfect for surfing.  Well, the area is surrounded with pine trees that covers the camping area from the UV rays that also provides a relaxing camping experience.

PURARAN SURF BEACH RESORT, Catanduanes

Catanduanes is an island province in Bicol region, thus, it is surrounded by magnificent beaches and resorts. Puraran Surf Beach Resort is one of the cheap resorts in Baras where you can enjoy the crystal clear and calm water, cool and fresh sea breeze and emerald seas. The resort is surrounded by greens such as coconuts, banana and other ornamental plants. For accommodation, there are quaint cottages which are also Instagram worthy.

MAGALAWA ISLAND, Zambales

After our outreach program held at one of the Aeta Communities in Iba, Zambales, we proceeded to Magalawa Island, an island paradise in Palauig. It's almost three hours travel from Iba passing on the concrete roads by the beach. Since the province is located in the North West of Luzon, facing the Philippine Sea, a lot of gorgeous beaches are yet to be discovered. There are a few stretch of fine white sand and islands beaches that are picture perfect, like Magalawa.
 

POTIPOT ISLAND, Zambales

There are a lot of gorgeous beaches in Zambales, one of these is Potipot Island, an islet situated in Brgy. Uacon, Candelaria, Zambales, a few hours land travel from Manila. Before the coves of San Antonio were discovered, this island was first hailed as one of the finest gems of the province because of it's fine white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and relaxing ambiance. Since it is separated from the mainland and it is on a remote area, a few visitors can only visit.

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Batulao, Batangas

I consider Mt. Batulao as one of the most climbed mountains in Southern Luzon because of the following: proximity from Manila, beautiful landscape, cool and relaxing ambiance.  A two to three hours land travel from the Manila, this mountain can reward you with a breathtaking and wide view of its green mountain slopes. You trek can be tiring but your tired muscles will be relaxed as the cool and refreshing wind blows. Since it's in Batangas, you can have a side trip in Tagaytay and have a sumptuous bulalo break.

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Maculot, Batangas

I'll place Mt. Maculot as the second must climbed mountain in Batangas because of different factors. Can also be one of the best options for day hikes because of its minor trail type, terrains that are covered with trees and surrounded by grass and shrubs, the air is fresh, cool ambiance and a perfect location for a stunning shot with the world famous and most active Taal Volcano on the background. In addition, the Rockies is the best and famous part of Maculot.

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Talamitam, Batangas

Though, there are no trees dancing and birds singing, the nude shape of Mt. Talamitam makes it one of the hiking destinations in the Province of Batangas. Considered as a friendly mountain for beginners, this Talamitam can still bring a remarkable hiking experience to those seasoned in this field because of its soil type which is slippery and muddy during wet season and hot during summer. As what you can see on the photo above, this mountain is covered with green which brings a relaxing aura in the eyes.

Mt. Marami is one of the hiking destinations in Southern Luzon because of its proximity from Manila. Not only that, it is also one of the most visited mountains in the province because of its simple and gradual trails. Walking on its terrain can give you a relaxation because everything is surrounded by greens while the mountain slopes from afar are picture perfect. You can't stop yourself for a death defying pose on the rock formation called "silyang bato." Fruit bearing trees, coconuts, bananas and other crops can give you a farmville feeling while the birds are singing their lullabies.

Mt. Pico de Loro is also known as Mt.  Palay-palay located in Ternate, Cavite. Its name was given by the Spanish  sea-fairer because it looks like a ‘parrot’s beak’ from afar. This mountain has a combination of beauty and trekking adventure. It has a lot to offer in terms of natural  beauty and richness. There are birds singing, colorful flowering plants on the ground, orchids hanging on the branches, bananas, and fruit bearing trees like coconuts and mangoes. Reaching the top of the Monolith or the Parrot's Beak is a must tried because it will measure your fear and agility.

BURGOS LIGHTHOUSE, Ilocos Norte

The Burgos Lighthouse or the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse is situated in Burgos, Ilocos Norte.  It is a cultural heritage that was erected during the Spanish era in the Philippines. It's a 66-foot-tall octagonal stone tower on Vigia de Nagpartian Hill with an overlooking scene of Cape Bojeador.

Hiking Mt. Romelo and rappelling the Buruwisan falls was fun and amazing experience because the area has rich bio-diversity, both flora and fauna. There is a body of water that flows on its terrain, thus, this mountain has a high concentration of trees and other plants. It can bring a good combination of adventure and relaxation. Having said that, Laguna, together with the provinces of Batangas and Cavite, makes the region the center for outdoor activities.

BORAWAN ISLAND, Quezon Province

Borawan Island, a small island with a stretch of fine white sand shoreline, surrounded by crystal clear waters, cool and relaxing ambiance and amazing rock formation. It's name is the combination of Boracay, for its fine white sand, and Palawan because of the rock formation. A few years ago, Borawan once became phenomenal island in the province because of its beauty.
 

PUTING BUHANGIN AND KWEBANG LAMPAS, Quezon Province

This generation, in just one click, you can easily see what to expect from a certain spot. Online, we found an itinerary for Kwebang Lampas and Puting Buhangin. Its beauty was intriguing because of its fine white sand shoreline, crystal clear waters and the ambiance seems to be relaxing. Situated in Padre Burgos, a four to five hours land travel from Manila, this destination is considered as one of the gems of the province of Quezon.

DAMPALITAN ISLAND, Quezon Province

Dampalitan Island is another top destination in Quezon province. It captured the eyes of so many travelers because of its fine white sand shoreline, crystal clear waters and stunning sunset. Its name was derived from Dampalit or "shoreline purslane" in English (Sesuvium Portulacastrum) which is a type of a perennial herb that grows in the coastal areas throughout the world, which is also visible in this Island.  According to the caretaker, they can actually create a sumptuous salad out of this herb.

Borawan Island is a small islet located in Padre Burgos, in Quezon Province. According to the caretaker I spoke to , the name of the islet was give by Father Vargas who discovered the islet. This islet is made up of a large stone in irregular shape, covered with grass and trees.

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Banahaw, Quezon

Mt. Banahaw
To plant more trees, that's our main purpose of our hike. We chose Mt. Banahaw because we want to see and preserve its hidden and majestic beauty. Though, it is hard to trek due to its terrain that is on a rain-forest, it is one of the must hiked mountains because it has a healthy biodiversity, both plants and animals. Dubbed as the "Holy Mountain," Banahaw bears a trail with a very calm ambiance. Reaching the summit and heading back to the jump off can give you lifetime and unforgettable experience.
 

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Cristobal, Quezon

Mt. Cristobal is one of the famous mountains in Luzon because of the the countless stories, rumors and legends about "ghost" and other extra terrestrial events. As a result, the title "devil's mountain" was given to this pride of Quezon. Aside from those, Cristobal also hides an amazing terrains, surrounded with a dense forest areas. There are mosses, ferns and orchids hanging on the branches, a proof that this wildlife sanctuary is still preserved. Also, the ambiance and weather is cool because its stands 1,470 MASL. 

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Binacayan, Rizal

Another famous mountain in Rodriguez, Rizal is Mt. Binacayan, a small but tiring to hike because of its terrain. Though, separated by Wawa River from Mt. Pamitinan, they almost have the same features in terms of the difficulty and trails types. There are fruit bearing trees, shrubs that bloom like ornaments, and the lullabies from birds can be heard. You will be certified as a "revel in trekking" because of the rock climbing and scrambling on the boulders and limestone cliffs with sharp edges.

Mt. Hapunang Banoi is a dwarf and a hiking-friendly mountain in Montalban, Rizal which can give you a tantalizing view of nature's beauty. Together with Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan, Hapunang Banoi is ne of the must hiked mountains in the area because it is also surrounded by lucius greens trees which makes the area looks relaxing. Plus the exhilarating terrains added an adventure to hikers. In the center of these mountains is Wawa Dam, a water reservoir built by the American. This area was chosen because it's a catch basin of the three mountains.
 

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Pamitinan, Rizal

Mt. Pamitinan
Mt. Pamitinan is one of the most hiked mountains because it became famous due to it's accessibility from Manila. It's been a long time since we planned to visit Wawa Dam and hike the twin mountains, for some reasons, it resulted to "drawing." Hiking Pamitinan is a bit challenging but will definitely give you an amazing and wide view of greens surrounding Wawa Dam and part of the Sierra Madre mountains. Also, the area is famous because of the legend; according to stories: Bernardo Carpio used his super power to separate Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan, as a result, there's a space in between them, where Wawa Dam is situated.

Ang mansyon ng mga Aguinaldo o Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine sa Kawit, Cavite ay isa sa mga lumang istruktura na aking gustong maabot at ngayong araw, naabot ko rin ito sa wakas. Galing ng Baclaran, ang probinsya ng Cavite ay halos isang oras lamang  na biyahe dahil sa Cavitex na nagpagaan ng trapiko sa lugar. Sa post ko kahapon, ipinakita ko sa inyo ang maaliwalas na bakuran ng mansyon. Ngayon, loob naman ng mansyon ang aking ibabahagi.

Alam kong pamilyar sa inyo ang balkonaheng ito, kadalasang laman ito ng ating mga libro ng Kasaysayan. Ngayon, ipapakita ko sa inyo ang kabuuan ng makasaysayang bahay na ito. Nakatutuwang isipin na nasa harapan ako ng isang istrukturang naging bantayog dahil sa naibigay nitong kontribusyon sa Pilipinas - ang Kalayaan. Habang tirik na tirik ang araw, ang puso ko  nama'y hindi mapigilang lumundag dahil sa lubos na galak, samantalang ang ihip ng hangin naman ay  may kalamigan na pumapawi sa init na aking nararamdaman.

HIKING GUIDE: Mt. Daraitan and Tinipak River

When we saw the gorgeous photos of Mount Daraitan, we thought that it's a perfect place to relax and re-energized with positivity that nature possesses. Hiking this mountain and crossing the Tinipak River can definitely give you a unique experience because the place is surrounded with relaxing greens and the sound of the rushing water by the river preserves the tranquility. Aside from hiking Mt. Daraitan, the province of Rizal has a lot to offer, from arts, crafts, food, rivers and mountains.

Mt. Guiting-guiting in Sibuyan, Romblon is famous in the world of mountaineering because of its majestic beauty and is listed as one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the Philippines. Garnered a nine over nine rating in terms of difficulty, Guiting-guiting hides an unspoiled beauty and vast diversity of flora and fauna on the summit. Plus, trekking this forested mountain slopes can provide a great hiking experience. Also, G2, another name given to the mountain, is just one of the must visit spots in Romblon aside from the marble products, the province also has a lot of gorgeous and breathtaking beaches and dive sites awaiting to be discovered.

TINAGO FALLS, Biliran

Biliran has a wide forested areas where the breathtaking waterfalls are hidden, one of these is Tinago Falls. Its name derived from a Filipino word “tinago” which literally translates to “hidden” in English. Well, it is not hidden anymore because its beauty already captured the eyes and attention of countless tourists and visitors online. The Tinago Falls is one of the must visit waterfalls in Kaibiran because there's unlimited flow of crystal clear and cool waters, and the pressure of the water falling is perfect for a whole body massage. The ambiance is cool and relaxing. it is surrounded with enormous rocks and boulders with trees on the side.   Other waterfalls in Biliran that can be visited are the Recoletos Falls and Condol Falls.

ULAN-ULAN FALLS, Biliran

It's very seldom to hear about the province of Biliran; without googling it, you will definitely not see the beauty hiding in this island province. Situated in the Municipality of Almeria, Ulan-Ulan Falls is one of the majestic waterfalls hidden in the wide forested areas of the province. It's name was derived from the Filipino word “ulan” or “rain” because of the mist created by the pressure of the water falling. There's a cool and crystal clear waters while the area is surrounded by luscious greens which preserves the relaxing ambiance.

BINURONG POINT, Catanduanes

Catanduanes is doesn't end with the title "The Happy Island," they also hide stunning and gorgeous tourist destinations in Bicolandia. One of these is the instagram worthy Binurong Point, an open and wide area with a panoramic view of the pacific, gorgeous the rolling hills and spectacular view of the sunset. Why you should include Binurong Point on your must visit list in Bicol? Why not, it has a cool and relaxing ambiance with a cool sea breeze, the slopes of the hills were perfectly shaped by the nature, there' are gigantic rock formation, and calming sound of the waves can make your day a lazy day. This area is definitely a perfect spot for photo shoots, especially those pre-nups, because it is so romantic.

HIKING GUIDE: MT. HALCON, Oriental Mindoro

So far, hiking Mt. Halcon (2582 MASL) in Oriental Mindoro is the toughest. Why not? It is one of the giants to climb in the Philippines. Though, this mountain garnered a nine over nine rating in terms of difficulty, it is part of my "list of the must hiked mountains" because of its hidden and majestic beauty. Mt. Halcon has a combination of long and difficult terrains, wealthy rain forest, vast diversity of plans and animals, spooky stories, and unpredictable weather condition which can bring a remarkable hiking experience (the reason why it's my hardest). By the way, Oriental Mindoro is famous for their fine white sand beaches and diving sites, such as Puerto Galera and Sabang, but Mt. Halcon is something that hikers should experience.

NILANDINGAN COVE, Cagbalete Island

In Nilandingan Cove, Cagbalete Island, we celebrated our 9th anniversary. Though, it's a 4-5 hours land travel from Manila, we chose Nilandingan Cove because we thought that it has a big picture of beauty at its finest. From afar, we were greeted by the long stretch of fine white sand shoreline with the greens on the side. Upon arrival, we discovered that Nilandingan Cove is not just about the shoreline, it also has crystal clear and cool waters, lovely cottages, and relaxing ambiance.

CALLAO CAVE, Cagayan Province

Callao Cave
In Tuguegarao City, we chartered a tricycle to Callao Cave jump off, one of the famous caves in the Philippines. Callao Cave is a seven chamber cave in Peñablanca, Cagayan where scientists and experts discovered a 67,000 years old fossilized remains of a Callao Man in 2007, that's thousand years older than the Tabon Man in Palawan. This cave is situated on the Northern foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Peñablanca, the name of the municipality, is a Spanish word which means white rocks because of the limestone present in the area.

HIKING GUIDE: MT. APO

Mt. Apo
Measures 2,956 meters above sea level, Mt. Apo is dubbed as the "bubong ng Pilipinas" because it is the highest and the father of all the mountains in the Philippines. Its circumference stretches to two provinces in the southern Mindanao region, the provinces of North Cotabato and Davao del Sur. Though, Mt. Apo is considered as an active volcano, trekking on its terrain is safe and can provide a package of remarkable experience and photos to be shared.
