Britania Group of Islands, Surigao del Sur

The Britania Islands are just a few of the hidden paradise of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. These are like huge boulders dropped into the water and the fine white sand exploded from the sea bed. Every islet is surrounded by crystal clear waters and fine white sand. There are several islets but we only reached found because of the high tide. If you're in Surigao del Sur, add this group of islands to your bucket list.

Marawi City, the capital of Lanao del Sur, is one of the cities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. It has a colorful culture and overflowing with stunning attractions and destinations. Prior to my solo-backpacking,  whenever I share my itinerary, the common response of my friends was "it is not safe in there," that negative statement did not affect my travel plan. From Iligan City proper, I rode on a habal to the Southbound Terminal where I rode in a van to the city; travel time was about 45 minutes to an hour.

Bud Bongao, Tawi-Tawi: Peak, Location

Bud Bongao, in Tawi-Tawi province, is sacred and a Muslim's pilgrimage site; a place where our Muslim brothers and sisters meditate and offer prayers to Allah. Not just the center of religious activity, this mountain is an iconic landscape, thus, it is the top tourist spot in the province. By the way, "bud" is a Tausug word that translates to "mountain" in English.

Banaue Rice Terraces, Sagada and Mt. Pulag are just three of the famous tourist spots in the Cordillera region. I usually see them on the post cards before but please don't calculate my age. Honestly, traveling to these gorgeous spots is a bit challenging because of its geographical location; seven to twelve hours are needed just for transportation. In the contrary, let's proceed to the reason why you should visit the Cordilleras, especially the Province of Ifugao. This province has a lot to offer, from history, nature, extreme sports, foods, places to stay and many more. Transportation is not a problem at all because it is accessible from Cubao, Robinsons Galleria and SM Megamall. Below are few of the must visit in the province.

1. Bacolor Church

Bacolor Church or the San Guillermo Church in Pampanga is considered as the Cagsawa of the North. More then twenty years ago, Mt. Pinatubo erupted and many municipalities were left devastated, including Bacolor, Pampanga. This church was built in 1576 and was named after Bacolor's patron saint San Guillermo Ermitaño. Destroyed by earthquakes and fire then was rebuilt in 1886.

1. Barasoain Church

In Philippine history, Bulacan is one of those provinces with a lot of happenings and until today, the historical sites are still standing. Let's start with Barasoain Church, also known as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, a Roman Catholic church built in 1630 in Malolos City, Bulacan. From Bulacan Provincial Capitol, we rode in a tricycle to and alighted in front of the church. It was early in the morning so we had time taking photos without people on the background. Disadvantage? The church was open but the museum was closed. I was stunned by its structure, thus, standing in front of the facade was remarkable.

Creating a travel itinerary for Negros Oriental is not complicated and this province has a lot of gorgeous and stunning tourist destinations. Dumaguete City, its capital, is highly urbanized and it is the center of commerce and transportation to the different parts of the province. Also, finding a high class hotel or a cheap backpackers lodge online or Google Map is also easy. The province of Negros Oriental was my first destination of my recent solo-backpacking in Region 7.

1. Laing

When we visited Caramoan islands in Camarines Sur, tasting their very own and authentic dishes as part of our itinerary. I am not a chef or a cook but according to some friends, I have good and active taste buds. Taray diba??? For the first time I will be a food critic. First is the famous Laing. This is a spicy dish with dried taro leaves, siling labuyo, and coconut milk as the main ingredients. There's a linamanam factor and the texture is smooth inside my mouth.
